The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) recently announced that space-based quantum technology company Xairos Systems Inc. (Xairos) is its newest affiliate member. Xairos utilizes quantum time transfer technology to provide a resilient and accurate global timing service and alternative position, navigation and timing (AltPNT) system compared with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as GPS.
"SIA welcomes Xairos and its expertise in the field of innovative quantum synchronization for satellite-based navigation.”

Earlier this year, the United States Space Force’s SpaceWERX and Space Systems Command selected Xairos as one of the companies participating in the AltPNT challenge. The goal of the challenge is to enhance the resilience and accuracy of satellite-based navigation systems beyond traditional GNSS.
“SIA is pleased to announce Xairos as the Association’s newest member company,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “Technological innovation is fueling the current unprecedented growth of the commercial satellite industry and helping ensure America’s technological space leadership. SIA welcomes Xairos and its expertise in the field of innovative quantum synchronization for satellite-based navigation.”
“Xairos is honored and proud to join the SIA community,” said David Mitlyng, CEO of Xairos. “SIA has been a powerful advocate for the new space revolution, which is enabling disruptive new technologies, such as our quantum time transfer, to provide new services and capabilities from orbit.”
Affiliate membership in SIA is open to satellite companies as well as supporting entities that advocate and promote the domestic commercial satellite industry. SIA Affiliate Members receive a number of benefits including attendance at SIA’s Annual Association Meeting, participation in all open SIA meetings and most events (excluding the SIA Leadership Dinner) and SIA Member discounts to industry events.
