The Office of Space Commerce (OSC) has announced that the Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) program has added another commercial space situational awareness (SSA) services provider – Kayhan Space – to bring an additional dimension to the recently launched COLA Gap Pathfinder initiative.
This new collaboration will explore how commercial space-based observations can enhance or complement existing commercial ground-based sensor networks to address key capability gaps the COLA Gap pathfinder is seeking to address.
The Office of Space Commerce is committed to enabling an integrated, agile, and future-ready civil space traffic coordination system while continuing to leverage DOD’s existing investments to maximize American taxpayers’ return on investment.
TraCSS builds upon and modernizes foundational DoD capabilities, expanding them with commercially developed technologies to meet the rapidly evolving needs of space commercialization and the ambitious objectives of Space Policy Directive‑3, which calls for continued collaboration between the Departments of Defense and Commerce to achieve its forward-leaning goals.
