Starlink Service Comes to General Aviation
STC Issued for Starlink Connectivity in Cessna Caravans
An additional high-speed internet connectivity solution has been approved for the Cessna Caravan following the FAA's issuance of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Starlink high-speed internet connectivity. Developed by AeroMech, the STC utilizes Starlink’s constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to provide more reliable connectivity over land, water and remote areas, where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi may not have service.
"The Caravan recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and offering Starlink high-speed connectivity upgrade continues to provide customers with the latest technology, no matter where the aircraft is in its lifecycle.”
Brian Rohloff, Textron Aviation
The Caravan is a fixed-gear single-engine turboprop airplane often flown on utility missions, but is also used in air taxi roles, particularly in remote areas.
“The Cessna Caravan is so versatile, it can go almost anywhere, and Textron Aviation understands the importance of providing a connectivity solution in more of the places our customers want to go," said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support. "The Caravan recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and offering Starlink high-speed connectivity upgrade continues to provide customers with the latest technology, no matter where the aircraft is in its lifecycle.”
Caravan owners can schedule installation of the upgrade at North American Textron Aviation Service Centers and select International Service Centers. AeroMech’s STC utilizes a Starlink Aviation Kit, consisting of an Aero Terminal (Antenna), Power Supply Unit (PSU), two Wireless Access Points (WAPs), harnessing and only requires power input from the aircraft.
