Space Force Selects 12 Companies for Space-Based Interceptor Program
True Anomaly Among Awardees in $3.2 Billion Effort to Defend U.S. Homeland from Missile Threats
A U.S. Space Force initiative to develop a proliferated constellation of space-based interceptors has awarded Other Transaction Authority agreements to 12 companies, including commercial space startup True Anomaly, in a program valued at up to $3.2 billion across 20 agreements.
“Our role on the Space-Based Interceptor program is to deliver space-based systems capable of intercepting missiles under extreme engagement conditions while achieving a unit cost and level of reliability necessary for scale.”

Space Systems Command’s space-based interceptor program is part of the Golden Dome for America initiative, responding to what program officials describe as a generational mandate to protect the U.S. homeland from ballistic missile and hypersonic attacks. The program aims to develop a proliferated low Earth orbit constellation of interceptors capable of engaging threats in the boost, midcourse, and glide phases of flight, with an initial capability demonstration targeted for 2028.
“Our role on the Space-Based Interceptor program is to deliver space-based systems capable of intercepting missiles under extreme engagement conditions while achieving a unit cost and level of reliability necessary for scale,” said Evan Rogers, CEO and co-founder of True Anomaly. “As we have with all of our products to date, we are investing at scale and bringing together private capital, world-class talent, and industry-leading partners to harness American innovation and execute a program with enormous national security implications.”
The 12 awardees span both traditional defense primes and leading commercial space companies. Space Systems Command structured the awards using Other Transaction Authority agreements, a contracting mechanism that allows flexibility in engaging both established and nontraditional defense vendors.
True Anomaly’s selection extends its existing portfolio — which includes autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, and mission software — into what the company describes as one of the most consequential national security challenges of the current era. The Colorado-based company said the expansion into space-based interceptors represents a new level of partnership between the defense industrial base and the U.S. government.
True Anomaly was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, with additional offices in Colorado Springs, Washington, D.C., and Long Beach, California.
