SAU and RON Separation Systems Officially Listed in Space Catalogs
Follows Extensive Qualifications Success by UARX
The SAU and RON separation systems developed by UARX have been included into multiple rocket launcher catalogs, following the completion of one of the most demanding qualification campaigns in the industry.
“Passing all qualification tests is not only a demonstration of mechanical precision and structural integrity, but also a testament to the system's performance surpassing our expectations.”
Dr. Andrés Villa Granata, UARX Space
The 8", 15", and 24" separation rings, fully designed and manufactured and tested in Spain, underwent a comprehensive qualification test campaign that replicated the most extreme environmental and operational conditions of a space mission.
The campaign included:
Wear-In Tests: Conducting thorough wear-in tests to understand surface stability, contact behavior, and long-term mechanical consistency under repeated actuation.
Thermal Vacuum (TVAC): Validating performance in the vacuum and extreme temperature swings of space.
Thermal Cycling (TCYC): Demonstrating reliability under repeated temperature extremes to assess material fatigue, thermal expansion effects, and mechanical integrity over mission life.
Vibration Testing: Simulating the dynamic and acoustic loads experienced during launch.
Shock Testing: Verifying structural response during critical separation events, where flawless operation is mission-critical.
Functional and Simulated Zero-G Deployment Tests: Validating the mechanism’s ability to perform nominally and deploy reliably in microgravity-like conditions.
Visual Inspections: Performing detailed visual inspections to assess alignment, detect surface degradation, and confirm overall build integrity before and after environmental testing.
“Passing all qualification tests is not only a demonstration of mechanical precision and structural integrity, but also a testament to the system's performance surpassing our expectations,” stated Dr. Andrés Villa Granata, UARX Space, Chief Technology Officer, “It further reflects the technological maturity we have achieved and positions us as a reliable and competitive supplier of high-performance flight hardware.”
Separation systems are key components in any space mission, ensuring the safe and timely deployment of payloads and modules. The inclusion of SAU&RON in the rocket catalogs underscores UARX’s reliability and opens the door to integration with a broad range of launch services and platforms.
With this milestone, UARX Space reinforces its commitment to delivering high-end spaceflight solutions from Europe and consolidates its position as a trusted partner for global satellite manufacturers, launch providers, and mission integrators.
