New Viasat Solution Addresses Satellite System Complexity
A newly developed Multi-Mission Orchestrator (MMO) solution, an automated constellation management and planning capability designed to optimize and coordinate space vehicle scheduling and secure data transport across constellation networks, has been introduced by Viasat.

This new mission planning solution is designed to support increasingly complex, proliferated low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, which require advanced operational capabilities to effectively support vehicle orchestration, planning, and mission execution.
By generating an operational schedule for every satellite within a constellation, Viasat’s MMO software service evaluates mission performance from a global perspective, while adhering to the specific constraints and capabilities of each satellite within the constellation. This advanced system enables a simultaneous search for each satellite’s schedule through the fulfillment of operational tasks, ensuring coordination between cooperative systems and setting an operationally feasible and secure constellation schedule. This approach is designed to enable autonomous, responsive, and cooperative operations, significantly reducing the demand on ground operators and facilitating direct command specifications to every vehicle involved.
MMO will support fully autonomous mission planning and execution, significantly reducing the need for ground-based control and enabling satellites to operate independently in complex environments. This capability is supported by Viasat’s robust communication infrastructure, ensuring effective data routing and operational coordination. MMO’s advanced planning algorithms and infrastructure integration position it as a leading solution for agencies and companies targeting resilient satellite operations. MMO algorithms can be ground-based or hosted onboard the space vehicles, allowing them to cooperate and coordinate operations across the fleet and domain space.
