Key Leadership Hires announced by Skyloom
As it continues to build its team in Broomfield, CO, space telecommunications company Skyloom has announced two key leadership hires for executive roles.
“We are excited to be bringing on new engineers and technicians to meet our customers’ demand. In particular, Eric and Catharine are both uniquely suited to contribute to Skyloom’s success at this critical growth point for the company.”
Marcos Franceschini, CEO of Skyloom.
Eric Moltzau has been named Chief Commercial Officer, and Catharine Parnell is the new company Counsel. These two key leadership roles follow Skyloom’s aggressive hiring of talented engineers who are captivated by space. In the last quarter of 2022 and into 2023, Skyloom continues to bring on multiple new teammates in a variety of technical roles, and is looking to double its team by the end of 2023.
As demand for satellite broadband and earth observation data grows, Skyloom is creating new services and technology to improve performance for Satellite Network and Earth Observation operators. These operators are managing increasing amounts of data on-orbit, and face an acute bottleneck in transporting this data within their networks and bringing it back to their end-users on Earth in a timely fashion. Skyloom addresses this bottleneck through the manufacturing of space-qualified low size, weight, power and cost (SWAP-C) optical technologies and through its deployment of optical space data transport services. Skyloom systems lower latency and cost-per-bit and increase real-time access to customer data.
Key Leadership Hires bring Extensive Industry Experience
Newly named Chief Commercial Officer for Skyloom, Eric Moltzau brings a wealth of experience in the satellite industry. He previously held leadership roles at Eutelsat and Intelsat in areas of corporate strategy, business and product development, and government affairs. With a career that also spans senior positions in the United States Air Force and national security space systems development and operations, Eric will drive Skyloom's go-to-market and business development strategy, as well as build corporate partnerships.
“What impressed me most about Skyloom,” said Eric Moltzau, “was the team’s grit and determination to deploy a commercial space internet service and transform how society will communicate on a global and inter-planetary scale in the near term. Skyloom is focused on transforming commercial satellite communications for data, mobility, broadband, and government applications to terabyte-class performance. To solve some of our greatest challenges, we are modernizing space communications infrastructure and driving down cost and increasing performance and revenue for our customer base. I am thrilled to be a part of this incredibly talented team making that happen.”
Catharine Parnell brings over 10 years of experience as an attorney with the U.S. Government, having served as a Trial Attorney for the Commercial Litigation Branch of the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and as Assistant General Counsel for the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. Previously, Catharine served on active duty with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Catharine’s role will primarily focus on safeguarding the interests of Skyloom and its stakeholders, while ensuring its success and security.
“Space is humanity’s next frontier,” said Catharine Parnell, “and I am eager to bring my talents and expertise to the team as we navigate the uniquely complex landscape of this industry. Skyloom’s technology is truly revolutionary and its forward-thinking solutions are a critical piece of a modern communication infrastructure. I am eager to use my expertise and experience so that Skyloom continues to thrive and succeed as a leader in our field.”
“We are excited to be bringing on new engineers and technicians to meet our customers’ demand. In particular, Eric and Catharine are both uniquely suited to contribute to Skyloom’s success at this critical growth point for the company,” said Marcos Franceschini, CEO of Skyloom Global Corp. “Eric’s experience in national security space and the SATCOM industry, and Catharine’s sharp intuition from working with the U.S. military make them key assets that will enable Skyloom to smartly address the rapidly growing need for space data transport.”
Along with these key leadership hires, Skyloom is also growing their team and hiring for optical technicians and engineers, ground segment engineers, electro mechanical technicians, and more. Skyloom is an equal-opportunity employer, and believes that diversity breeds creativity and new approaches to hard problems. As evidenced by the recent hiring of Eric Moltzau and Catharine Parnell, both U.S Veterans, Skyloom is devoted to welcoming Veterans to their expanding team.
