Habitat Formulation Lead Sought by Blue Origin
Blue Origin is searching for an Orbital Habitat Formulation Lead as the company works towards a goal of seeing "millions of people living and working in space."
In the job posting, Blue Origin says it envisions habitable stations, "learning from but going beyond the ISS" supporting a robust LEO economy.
The person selected as Habitat Formulation Lead will "lead development of technical concepts, product strategies, business cases, customer relationships, market-shaping outreach, industrial partnerships, implementation approaches, and supply chain.
"Partnering with business development professionals, you will develop a detailed understanding of NASA, other government, and commercial needs and guide the iterative development of product strategy. You will be accountable for capturing external and internal sponsorship funding to establish viable LEO destination systems in the 2020s. You will directly impact the history of human spaceflight."
If that sounds interesting to you, the required qualifications include:
B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering or related.
15+ years aerospace experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles developing space systems
Demonstrated knowledge designing, building, testing, and operating crewed aerospace systems
Knowledge of human space flight subsystems, (e.g., crew systems, environmental control and life support, docking systems, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to attack ambiguous problems and provide practical, innovative solutions
Balance of detail-orientation and big-picture strategy
U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
The position is based at Blue Origin's Kent, WA headquarters.
