Five-Year Contract Targets GPS Modernization for U.S. Military PNT Enterprise
Award Covers Acquisition, Sustainment Support Across Three Air Force Bases
A five-year, $103.6 million task order to provide positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) contractor support services for the Department of War has been awarded to Apogee. The contract targets modernization of Global Positioning System capabilities essential to U.S. military operations, allied forces, and critical infrastructure worldwide.
“This award reflects both the urgency and importance of delivering resilient PNT capabilities to the warfighter.”

The task order covers technical expertise and mission support across three Air Force installations: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The work will be performed in collaboration with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
Under the contract, Apogee will support modernization, acquisition, and sustainment planning for GPS-based technologies as the Department of War continues to evolve its approach to delivering resilient, mission-ready PNT capabilities. The effort aligns with broader department priorities to enhance existing GPS control systems and accelerate delivery of operational capabilities following recent shifts in acquisition strategy.
“This award reflects both the urgency and importance of delivering resilient PNT capabilities to the warfighter,” said Frank Varga, Chief Executive Officer of Apogee. “We are proud to support the DoW as they deliver a more agile and reliable PNT enterprise. Our team remains steadfast and committed to evolving the way the Department acquires and advances its weapons systems. From SOF operators deployed behind enemy lines, our theatre deployed Navy battle groups, to the Airborne arsenal in the skies above, the Apogee team is ensuring innovation, joint integration techniques, and advanced technologies are applied to the Nation’s most complex PNT mission needs.”
The contract scope spans adaptive acquisition, mission support, and advanced technology domains. Apogee said it is actively investing in talent across those areas to meet growing mission demands.
PNT capabilities underpin a broad range of military and civilian systems, from precision-guided munitions and troop navigation to financial transaction timing and power grid synchronization. GPS, operated by the U.S. Space Force and managed through a network of ground control stations, provides the foundational signal infrastructure for much of the global PNT ecosystem. Modernization efforts have centered on upgrading control segment software, improving signal resilience against jamming and spoofing, and integrating next-generation GPS III satellites into operational architecture.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, serves as the primary acquisition and sustainment authority for GPS ground systems, making it a central node in ongoing PNT modernization. Robins AFB hosts sustainment activities for a range of Air Force weapon systems, while Eglin AFB is home to significant test, evaluation, and electronic warfare capabilities — functions directly relevant to validating GPS performance under contested conditions.
The award comes as the Department of War has been refining its GPS acquisition strategy, with emphasis on delivering capabilities more rapidly to operational users. The task order positions Apogee to support that accelerated delivery timeline while maintaining the long-term sustainment requirements of the global PNT enterprise.
