Dr. Brien Flewelling Joins Intuitive Machines
Named Executive Director of Data Services
Dr. Brien Flewelling has been named as the new Executive Director of Data Services at Intuitive Machines. He brings over a decade of expertise in space domain awareness, strategic planning, mission architecture, and advanced data analytics.
In this role, Dr. Flewelling will support the growth of Intuitive Machines’ Data Services business lines and products, working closely with Jim Frelk, Senior Vice President of Data Services, to drive innovation in the rapidly developing lunar economy. He will also be instrumental in advancing our Lunar Data Network (LDN) ground infrastructure—critical in supporting secure, high-performance communication and positioning for future lunar and cislunar missions. With NASA’s Near Space Network Services (NSNS) contract now driving our lunar satellite constellation strategy and pay‑by‑the‑minute relay model, Dr. Flewelling’s expertise in space domain awareness and mission architecture positions him to deliver robust operational intelligence, transforming data into actionable insight for government and commercial partners.
Dr. Flewelling joins Intuitive Machines from ExoAnalytic Solutions, where he directed strategic program development, established critical government and industry partnerships, and pioneered technologies for space traffic management, cislunar space domain awareness, and advanced modeling and analytics. His career spans impactful roles at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where he led cooperative research initiatives, optical navigation, and on-orbit sensing.
An industry-recognized thought leader and frequent speaker on space traffic management and space operations, Dr. Flewelling has developed innovative solutions for satellite tracking, advanced data exploitation, and real-time decision support. His work has contributed to missions across national security space, commercial operations, and future lunar exploration.
