Design for FeatherEdge 248Vi Completed by Sidus Space
Advancing AI/ML Processing for Space and Defense Applications
The design phase for the FeatherEdge 248Vi edge computer, a modular Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) processor has been completed by Sidus Space. The line represents the next evolution in Sidus’ Orlaith AI Ecosystem and is purpose-built to support spaceborne, aerial, and autonomous missions.
“Completing the design of FeatherEdge 248Vi marks a major milestone in our mission to redefine edge computing for space and defense.”
Jim Larson, Sidus Space
Building on the proven on-orbit performance of FeatherEdge 100i, one of the first commercially operational space edge computers, the new 248Vi is engineered to deliver computing power and ruggedized reliability for mission-critical operations across all domains.
Compared to previous generations, FeatherEdge 248Vi delivers a 2.5x increase in AI compute capability and 4x memory capacity, while maintaining optimized Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) for unmanned platforms, electronic warfare, and space and defense operations.
According to the company, the key features of the 248Vi include:
248 TOPS of AI Performance powered by NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin Industrial, enabling advanced multi-sensor perception, situational awareness, and near real-time decision-making
64 GB LPDDR5 ECC RAM and 680 GB pSLC NVMe SSD for high-speed data processing and storage
SOSA/ MOSA- aligned 3U VPX design for seamless integration into defense and aerospace systems
Expanded I/O including 10GbE, PCIe Gen4, SpaceWire, and CANbus for flexible connectivity
Ruggedized for Extreme Environments with conduction cooling, MIL-STD-810H compliance, and operational range from -40°C to +85°C.
Radiation-tolerant architecture supporting LEO and GEO missions with up to 100 krad TID.

“Completing the design of FeatherEdge 248Vi marks a major milestone in our mission to redefine edge computing for space and defense,” said Jim Larson, SVP, AI Strategic Initiatives at Sidus Space. “This cutting-edge high-performance computer sets the stage for advanced AI/ML applications in the most demanding environments and size constrained applications.”
FeatherEdge 248Vi is expected to be available for delivery in early Q2 2026. The 248Vi is available in standalone format or as a part of the Fortis Maxima suite, which includes Sidus Single Board Computer (SSBC), Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver, Custom Input/Output (I/O) Card, Power Converter Card, and Software Defined Radio (SDR), delivering a comprehensive solution for advanced space and defense missions.
